Amina Shaw-Moss LCAT, ATR
Amina’s work centers around uplifting and empowering her clients by guiding them into deeper connection—with themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them. She sees creativity as a powerful tool for healing and believes that when words fall short, creative expression can offer new understanding and release. For Amina, healing is not a linear journey—it’s a gradual unfolding rooted in self-discovery, curiosity, and listening to the wisdom of the body.
Clients often find that the therapeutic space Amina holds invites them to slow down and turn inward. Through a gentle weaving of mindfulness, body-based awareness, and expressive arts, she supports individuals in processing stored emotion and restoring a more secure sense of self. Her approach is relational and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that our capacity to heal expands through compassionate connection—with others and within our own internal world.
Clients have noticed meaningful shifts regarding emotional regulation, relationship improvement, mending from trauma and changing problem behaviors through her attuned style of therapy.
With over eight years of clinical experience, Amina has supported individuals from diverse communities and across various therapeutic settings. Her early work began in schools throughout Boston and New York, where she used art therapy to support children and teens navigating emotional challenges. This foundation continues to inform her deep respect for young people’s resilience and their innate capacity for healing when met with safety and care. Amina’s work with adults and couples grew organically from her early work with families. As parents opened up about their own emotional stress—whether marital tension, work pressure, or personal trauma—these conversations often evolved into family or collateral sessions. This affirmed her belief that supporting a child often involves working with the adults in their lives. For the past six years, she has offered therapy to adults navigating relationship conflict, professional burnout, major life transitions, and the emotional impact that accompanies these experiences.
Amina provides evidence-based approaches like EMDR, Creative Psychotherapy, mindfulness, and body-awareness techniques that help clients access healing beyond traditional talk therapy. She meets each person where they are, honoring the unique way their story lives in the body, mind, and spirit.
Outside of the therapy room, Amina feels her best when painting, writing, enjoying music concerts and appreciating nature at Prospect Park —often finding inspiration in the subtle nuance of everyday life. In her early twenties, she hosted her first art exhibit by taking a leap of faith and creating her own opportunity—an experience that reflects the same spirit she brings to her work as a therapist: intentional, self-driven, and rooted in genuine care. A lifelong learner, Amina continues to grow as a clinician while maintaining a grounded balance between her creative expression and her therapeutic work.
